[New Plugin] XML Navigator

Hi,

I’ve just released the initial version of the XML Navigator plugin. It shows the hierarchical structure of XML elements in a side bar, allowing fast navigation within it. It also shows attribute values next to the element name so that you can easily distinguish between elements which have the same name but different attributes.
The plugin is quite fast - I tested it with a 16 MB file with over 180 000 elements. It loads the file structure in less than 1 second.

Hello crypto-rsa,

I’ve just downloaded your XmlNavigator.dll file ( version 1.0.0.0 - 82944 bytes ) on my Win XP SP3 configuration.

After starting the last version of N++ ( v6.9.0 ), and opening the functionList.xml file, I chose the option Plugins - XML Navigator - Show XML Navigator but, only an EMPTY panel, on the right of the screen, appeared !

In addition, switching, between some tabs, led to an immediate stop of N++ !

Here is the debug Info, of my configuration :

Notepad++ v6.9
Build time : Feb 12 2016 - 10:14:59
Path : C:_690\notepad++.exe
Admin mode : OFF
Local Conf mode : ON
OS : Windows XP
Plugins : DSpellCheck.dll mimeTools.dll NppConverter.dll NppExport.dll PluginManager.dll XmlNavigator.dll

Hi guy038,

thanks for your feedback. I tried the functionList.xml file from Notepad++ installation in version 6.9 - everything works fine under Windows 7 Professional SP1. So I guess there is some incompatibility with Win XP. I’ll try to find a machine I could test it on.

Hi guy038,

I am afraid I won’t be able to help you - XML Navigator requires .NET 4.5 or higher which is not supported on Win XP. Sorry about that.

Thanks for your quick reply ! Indeed, on my configuration, I have all versions of .NET, till the 3.5 version and even Microsoft .NET Framework 4 client Profile ! But nothing about NET 4.5 :-( Too bad, indeed !

Of course, I do know that I should switch to newer Windows OS. But I’ve, so often, heard about problems of privileges and permissions for running software or opening files, with W7, and upper versions, that I quite pleased with my rustic, but neat Win XP configuration !!

Anyway, I’ll try your plugin, on my W7 laptop, at work !
