Command line plugin activation

Notepad++ 6.9.1, Build time 20 Mar 2016 19.48.40
I would like to call Notepad++ from within an IDE for an interface engine and avoid the built-in editor that is missing a lot of editing features. The file is located on the engine server and needs to be accessed via SFTP.
There does not appear to be a command line option for calling a plugin (such as nppFTP) with its own options for pulling the file from the server and pushing the modified file to the server when completed.
When will that command line option be available? Or a command line option for call a Macro upon start up…seems like a basic feature that should have been available early on.
Thanks.
Jon
