I used the Find in Files and replace feature to replace a section of text in some files. The affected files can no longer be opened with a standard text editor.

How do I fix this without opening every single one and exporting it again?

“Word experienced an error trying to open the file. Try these steps:” Blah blah blah.

to replace a section of text in some files

        What kind of files?

can no longer be opened with a standard text editor

Not sure what you mean? Can’t notepad++ open them?

Word experienced an error trying to open the file.

If you did a find/replace on Word documents then yeah you are going to screw them up.

Yes, I did a find/replace on .doc documents.

I am glad I didn’t do more files.

I am able to recover them individually by restoring a previous version. Is there any other fix ye know of that may be faster?
