      When I open js, xml or json files by double clicking, or right-click/open with Notepad++, the language is not recognized and the syntax is not colored. But when I open them from inside Notepad++, the file type is recognized and syntax is colored as expected. I checked style configurator and both file types should be reconized automatically. Is this an issue with windows or with Notepad++? I couldn’t find anyone else mentioning this problem, but it didn’t start till the last (or second to last) update.

      I’m using Notepad++ v6.9.2 and Windows 7 64bit.

        I just figured out that I apparently have 2 versions of Npp installed, the other one (v6.8.3) works as expected - no language/syntax style recognition issue. Since they were installed on separate drives, maybe the original wasn’t detected when I installed the second.

        So I uninstalled the older version and the newer one is now working as expected. This is solved.
