XML Tools not validating METS PREMIS example file
-
I am trying to validate xml towards METS and PREMIS using XML Tools plugin in Notepad++.
Using a PREMIS in METS example file http://www.loc.gov/standards/premis/louis-2-0.xml I get the following message:ERROR: Element ‘{info:lc/xmlns/premis-v2}object’, attribute ‘{http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance}type’: The QName value ‘{info:lc/xmlns/premis-v2}file’ of the xsi:type attribute does not resolve to a type definition.
ERROR: Element ‘{info:lc/xmlns/premis-v2}object’: The type definition is absent.Since the file is an example file demonstrating how to use the schemas and validates in for example the PREMIS in METS toolbox (http://pim.fcla.edu/), I guess the problem is not the file. Is there any known issues with validation using the XML Tools plugin in Notepad++?

XML Tools plugin appears to be able to validate some other example files.
Did you try to validate the file with several different validators and compared the results?
The file might just be a bad example, deliberate or not. -
@MAPJe71 The file validates in Oxygen and in XMLSpy (and in PREMIS in METS toolbox as mentioned).
I’ve also been in contact with PREMIS coordinator and they’ve not been able to find anything wrong with the document.Among the examples you mentioned some validates (PREMIS version 3.0 Example 2, PREMIS only record) but some do not (PREMIS in METS, PREMIS in METS record).
Maybe the problem is the combination PREMIS in METS. It’s still unclear though if the problem is the documents or the tool. -
You could post an issue at the XML Tools Plugin repository.
