A new release of XMLTools plugin (v.2.4.7) is available here

This new release brings following changes:

      • Add proxy support
      • Fix the “Set XML type automatically” function to avoid having caret placed at position 0 while changing the active tab
      • Fix DLL version number

I’m getting “Installation of XML Tools failed” when I try to install it. This plugin was one of the reasons I decided to switch to Notepad++.

Probably a settings issue. I have a portable installation of Notepad++ so it doesn’t use the [dreaded] Roaming or AppData or whatever locations.

        Clues?

Hello, Notepad++ plugin manager doesn’t find this update, but the plugin brings always a popup message saying a new version is available. I don’t mind to install it manually, but what happens?

@Mike Welch, download from link in post above, then read install.txt for where to place the files

What are the limits to how big a XML file can be loaded?

This doesn’t work with the 64-bit version of Notepad++ 7.1

@Nick-C Because this post is from over a year ago when 64-bit notepad++ was not even available. Check out this post from 6 days ago.
