The visual studio editors and notepad use the windows preference settings for high contrast video and they work well, but I would like an alternative editor with more ability. Is there a way to set notepad++ to green or yellow text on a black background? Is it possible to edit the language syntax definitions to change the color settings language elements use?

I am new to Notepad++ but I know the answer to your question. Yes, it can be done, but there appears to be a bug with it loading correctly on startup. Here is my comment about it: https://notepad-plus-plus.org/community/topic/44/bug-normal-text-always-highlighted
