      I tried to delete the seach results from one of the notepad++ tab and it crashed. After this crash, all the backups were also deleted which was present in the backup folder. I lost all the data. How do I recover those unsaved files. Before this crash, everyime I wud close and open notepad++, the unsaved data will get populated from the backup files. But now they are all gone

        Which n++ version?
        Do you have a core dump, whcih could be analysed by e.g. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html or a similar tool.

        There are some further reports about similar issues e.g. https://notepad-plus-plus.org/community/topic/13383/notepad-crashes-and-erases-the-file-being-worked-on/ and https://notepad-plus-plus.org/community/topic/13532/notepadd-file-crashed-and-file-is-no-where-to-be-found-in-backup-directory

          No there is no dump unfortunately. All the files in the backup folder were present earlier before the crash but then were deleted during crash.
