using php function readline() in notepad++

hi, does anyone know why using my browser says php function readline() is undefined when i run it using xampp in notepad++?

because it is a command line function and is not supposed to be used within browser!??
Nevertheless, you might get better support if you ask such questions in a php specific forum.Cheers
