I am attempting to use an asterisk to mark a line comment in a UDL for Stata. When I set ForcePureLC=“1” and open a Stata .do file, I see my specified comment syntax for any comments that already exist in the file. When I make a new comment, however, I get only the default syntax. Furthermore, if I return to one of the previous comments and change it, the text return to the default syntax.

Oddly, if I modify anything in the file before any of these comments, they’ll shift to the appropriate comment syntax.

When I set ForcePureLC=“0”, I have no issue; however, the asterisk is also an operator in Stata, so it would be great to restrict the comment syntax to the beginning of a line.

Not sure if this is a bug or if I’m missing a nuance in this feature. (Using a fresh insatll of Notepad++ 7.4.2)
