Windows 10 1703 build 15063.540 Notepad++ 7.4.2 can’t change associations. With Ifanview,
(jpg) another window popped up with with Ifanview in it, not with Notepad++.

Is this a known problem, or just my install ? although I can’t imagine why.

Have you tried running Notepad++ as administrator and then changing the associations?
