Stop that "search" tone!
-
when I do a Search->Find (CNTL-F), specify a text string, and if fails, a long and loud bell sounds. Does anybody know how to turn that off? Thanks, Dave Naden

There is currently no way to turn that off, short of modifying and rebuilding the source code. Here’ s the “offending” area:
FindReplaceDialog.cpp:
void FindReplaceDlg::setStatusbarMessage(const generic_string & msg, FindStatus staus) { if (staus == FSNotFound) { ::MessageBeep(0xFFFFFFFF);Interestingly, the MSDN documentation for this calls 0xFFFFFFFF a “simple beep”, not a “long and loud bell”.

Thank you! -Dave

Fwiw, I get a short beep, which maps to what Win10 Settings -> Sound -> Sounds shows as “Default Beep”. Not a Windows programmer, so I don’t know if that is the same as “simple beep”.
