      Hi there! I’m not really an expert on anything, so pls bear with me.

      I have a certain file type .abc and I would like to open it in Notepad++

      The problem I have is that I need to manually select Notepad++ from the list of software to open this file type (double click on file, scroll down to Notepad++, double click on Notepad++ to open). I tried to solve this via W7 file association, however the file type is not listed. I also tried to solve this via Notepad++ settings and added the file type to custom, but it still does not open it automatically.

      I need to open this file type quite often between test cycles of a software and it becomes really annoying to click around so many times just to open the files. Is there any way to solve this?

          @Claudia-Frank

          Hi, I already tried that but it doesn’t work. Somehow Windows (or Notepad++) doesn’t “remember” the software associated with the file.
