Can Notepad++ add a feature to save a file with a password, please.
-
Notepad++ is one of the fastest programs to initiate itself. For that reason I keep some sensitive, often used information (e.g login IDs & passwords) in a Notepad++ file that is immediately available when I click on the taskbar icon. For that reason, it would be appreciated if the file in question was password protected. Can Notepad++ save a file requiring a password to open it?

is it all about visibility or are you concerned about securing the data?
If the first is the case then you might think about a different approach.
Something like create a shortcut which opens that specific file when it is needed
and always close it afterwards or use en/decryption tools which output the content temporarily
(together with nppexec or a python script) and so on …If it is about securing, then I assume tools like truecrypt or password managers are better in such a case.

truecrypt
From here it says “The development of TrueCrypt was ended in 5/2014”. Is that current information or do you know something more about it?

Thx for pointing out, yes, it is still under development but with a slightly different name,
TCnext at https://truecrypt.ch/ or CipherShed (own gui).
Together with CipherShed they are maintaining/rewriting the original 7.1a source code.Cheers
