Cursor Jumps To End Of Line (Alt + 1)

When using Notepad++ for writing I occasionally use alt + (number) to insert a character from the character map. The problem is that when the number contains a “1” the cursor will jump to the end of the line (the screen line, as I have the document set to word wrap). I have already gone in to the shortcut mapper and have deleted as unnecessary the shortcut (alt + 1) there and rebooted the computer, but the problem persists.
How can I get the cursor not to jump to the end of the line in this manner?
