      Hello, We currently use NotePad ++ V7.5.7 (32 bit) in our organisation on Windows 7 clients. We have encountered an issue when saving, The save as dialogue box appears and we can choose a file type via the Save as type box however it does not append the file extension to our file name, If we do not manually append this to the file name it will save it as a normal text file even if we select another file type from the drop down. This issue is only present on our standard user accounts, We have no issues when admin users are using Notepad++

      Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Debug Info:
      Notepad++ v7.5.7 (32-bit)
      Build time : Jun 29 2018 - 00:46:55
      Path : C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe
      Admin mode : OFF
      Local Conf mode : OFF
      OS : Windows 7 (32-bit)
      Plugins : NppFTP.dll PluginManager.dll DSpellCheck.dll mimeTools.dll NppConverter.dll NppExport.dll

        Try CHANGING whatever setting you have for this and seeing how it impacts your situation:

          thanks for your reply, I have tried with the option both selected and de-selected and it has made no difference. The only noticeable difference is that with the option selected when going to Save a file the save as type has changed to All types.

            I don’t see the same thing as you, granted my config is a little different (main diff is 32 vs 64-bit Windows):

              if you close notepad++ and open an explorer window:

              can you see file extensions of known file types inside an explorer window ?
              (eg. can you see the .pdf extension of a pdf if you browse to one within the windows explorer ? )
