      Hi, over the Xmas period, my Notepad++ has updated, and the additional plugins I had (compare & XML tools), are no longer showing. I do have the Plugins Admin option, but due to our firewall I can’t use this. I have tried coping the dll’s to ‘C:\ProgramData\Notepad++\plugins’, but they still do not appear. Can anyone help?

            I’m using the portable version.
            I’m behind a corporate proxy so I could not use the Plugins Admin tool.
            I had to resort to manual plugin installation.

            I found I had to name the sub-folders to match the dll as well but in my custom installation folder:
            \Portable_applications\Notepad++\plugins\ComparePlugin\ComparePlugin.dll

            This is not officially stated anywhere, or at least I could not find that information.
            It’s not stated on the the installation procedure at http://docs.notepad-plus-plus.org/index.php?title=Plugin_Development#How_to_install_a_plugin

              @Roger-Moquin-Scrap ,

              Thanks for pointing that out to the others here.

              Unfortunately, the NpWiki++ has not been updated since Jan 2015 – there were too many spam edits, and the Developer decided he wanted to focus his Notepad+±devoted time to the application itself, rather than fighting spam on the wiki, so he disabled editing. There is some useful information still on the wiki, but much of it is significantly out of date. That’s why we try to answer things as well as we can here in the forums

                This might be slightly offtopic, but are there really no trustworthy community members or other code contributors that could be watching over the wiki?

                  welcome to the notepad++ community, @k.d.google

                  are there really no trustworthy community members or other code contributors that could be watching over the wiki?

                  there are, but an extensive documentation, and any form of writing and/or adapting manuals, consumes a lot of time.
                  an optimal developing ratio, in regard to code change documenting, writing guides and training, is about 1:2, which means that for every hour of developing time, an enterprise has to calculate at least two additional hours for documentation and user training.
                  this would, imho, be excessive for a project of this size, as it is not enterprise driven, and hence the wiki might look a bit left aside at the moment, trivialised speaking.

                  we do, on the other hand, have the privilege of enjoying the presence of a lot of good external developers and power users at this notepad++ community, who can probably answer many of your questions, or give you a guide.

                  do you have any specific question, you still would like to have answered about plugins or any other topic, where you were not able to find a guide that applies to your specific notepad++ version ?
