2 missing strings not translated from English into French - français
-
Hello,
I am using Notepad++ 7.6 (I can not update to the latest version, because I have no admin rights on my machine at the Uni campus here – for obvious securiry requirements, but I do not have time to test on my personal computer the most recent sub 7.6.x …)
In the Find window, the following two messages are not translated into French…
Find: Found the 1st occurrence from the top. The end of the document has been reached.
(and also : « from the bottom »)
Find: Can’t find the text “xxxx”.PS By the way, sorry I could not submit this new topic here earlier with my GitHub account login sign-in during last november :

this has been translated many versions ago, and is (or should be) translated in your 7.6 as seen at the screenshots below.
some possible solutions:
-
try to change to english or any other language and back to french
(this reloads localization\french.xml from your notepad++ install or portable directory if french.xml was updated to 7.6 but is not yet active) -
download the portable 7.6.2 zip version from here, extract it anywhere and try to replace your current localization\french.xml with the new one you can find in this zip folder
(you will probably not have the rights to do so and need help of an administrateur) -
download the portable 7.6.2 version from the link above, extract it to your desktop and use this portable version instead of the installed one
(sometimes you have sufficient permissions to run executables from folders on your desktop)

Merci, j’ai changé dans Paramètres, Préférences, Général, Langue, en basculant entre Français et English
Thanks. I have toggled between French and English and then back to French via : Settings, Preferences, General, LocalizationBy the way, it is strange to see that « Localization » has been translated into « Langue », instead of something like « Langue de l’interface »…
Then I have restarted Notepad++ and I see several menus still in English.
I have listed them below.
Contextual mouse menu in the Windows OS desktop :
- Edit with Notepad++
Fichier
- Restore Recent Closed File
Macro
- Trim Tailing and save
Exécution
Most of the menus are not translated here / la majorité des menus ne sont pas traduits, par exemple :- Launch in Firefox
- Launch in IE
Other info are not translated, in the info section at the bottom of the Notepad++ window :
- length
- lines

The possible “problem” here could be with the amount of available space?
-
There is plenty of space in the dialog windows to use a longer term there (Windows OS systems are usually PCs with large screens).
-
It could be something that is used in several places and one place needs it to be kept short? I don’t really know, I’m just thinking of possible reasons…that usually people don’t think of when they complain about translations not being ideal. And, BTW, if you are complaining and you want someone with the power to change it to see it, you are doing it in the wrong place. See https://notepad-plus-plus.org/community/topic/15741/faq-desk-feature-request-or-bug-report.

Really? THANKS! I never knew that. I learned something today!!

Thank you for the link to the advice about : “FAQ Desk: Feature Request or Bug Report”
it’s not guaranteed that a feature request in the Forums will be noticed or followed up on.
if I have time, I will open some, as I used to a few years ago:

Hi!
Let me answer your questions.@pboulerie said:

This string is translatable, and actual translation is depending on French translator. Otherwise good observation. In Hungarian translation I also use “Language of program interface” in Hungarian.
Then I have restarted Notepad++ and I see several menus still in English.
Not everything is translatable.
Contextual mouse menu in the Windows OS desktop :
- Edit with Notepad++
This is not part of the language file, it belongs to windows installer that doesn’t handle right click registry entry localization.
Fichier
- Restore Recent Closed File
This is a bug for long time (many years). Even if translated, but program displays English string.
Macro
- Trim Tailing and save
This is a name of the Macro itself, and not part of the interface. Not to be translated.
Exécution
Most of the menus are not translated here / la majorité des menus ne sont pas traduits, par exemple :- Launch in Firefox
- Launch in IE
These are not translatable as of now, they are not in language file.
Other info are not translated, in the info section at the bottom of the Notepad++ window :
- length
- lines
These string in the status bar are not in the language file either at the moment, they are not translatable.
