Compare plugin not working in x64 version of NPP
-
OS version: Windows 7 Enterrpise SP2 x64
NPP version: 7.6.2
NPP location: “C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe”
Plugin loction: "C:\Program Files\Notepad++\plugins"
Plugin Version: 1.5.6
Plugin resource: http://sourceforge.net/projects/npp-compare/The DLL and the doc-folder is placed in the plugins folder, as described in the documentation.
Notepad++ does not show the plugin or any trace of it.

do you really mean the old and deprecated Plugin Manager or the new Plugin Admin?
If the latter is the case then I by using its UI it should be ok to install listed plugins.

Go to the ? > Debug Info menu, Copy debug info into clipboard, and paste that info into your reply here.

Compare plugin v 1.5.6 does not support x64 architecture.
You’ll need 32-bit Notepad++ to use it or you’ll need Compare plugin v2.0.The second problem is that Notepad++ v7.6.2 plugins location is NOT
C:\Program Files\Notepad++\plugins.
The plugins for this Notepad++ version are located in the Public users folderC:\Users\Public\AppData\Notepad++\pluginsand the Plugin MUST be put in its own sub-folder there -C:\Users\Public\AppData\Notepad++\plugins\ComparePlugin(copy all plugin files there).I would suggest to use the latest versions of both Notepad++ (v7.6.3 at the time of writing) and Compare plugin (v2.0).
Notepad++ v7.6.3 has a feature PluginAdmin located under the Plugins menu - use it to install Compare plugin automatically - it will get the correct plugin version (x64 v2.0) and put it at the right place. -
