      When I try to install Customize Toolbar, I get an message that says, “It has not been possible to validate the integrity of ‘Customize Toolbar.dll’ needed to update or install a plugin. Do you want to copy this file anyway (Not recommended)?”

      If it isn’t recommended, I’d rather not do it unless it is safe to do so. Is there a way around this, or does anyone know what the risks are, or if it is safe to install?

        welcome to the notepad++ community, @gtshadow

        we would need your debug information and how you have installed customize toolbar.
        if you are on 7.6.6 and you have installed it using the built in plugins > plugins admin it should work out of the box.

          I never actually installed the plugin. I got the message I gave above, when using the plugin manager plugin to try to install Customize Toolbar. I used the plugin manager to install the other plugins I have, with no problems. I’m using version 7.5.9. Will try updating to newest version and see if it works.

          Notepad++ v7.5.9 (32-bit)
          Build time : Oct 14 2018 - 15:02:52
          Path : C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\notepad++.exe
          Admin mode : OFF
          Local Conf mode : OFF
          OS : Windows 10 (64-bit)
          Plugins : DSpellCheck.dll mimeTools.dll NppConverter.dll NppExport.dll AutoSave.dll ColorPicker.dll PluginManager.dll

            thank you for your debug information.

            yes, best is if you just go to the menu ? > update notepad++.
            especially because it comes with the official built in plugins admin which replaces the old plugin manager.

            once you have done the update, just go to plugins > plugins admin to re-install all your plugins.
            it has a search field, so you can find listed plugins easier.
            select your desired plugins, like color picker, autosave, dspellcheck, etc. and you are good to go.
