    Using notepad++ I opened up an m3u file on my audio player and was able to see the list of songs and their locations. When I import the exact same file back into my player, the m3u no longer works (shows an empty playlist). When I rightclick on the file in the player and go to properties, it has the song values listed under “references”, but the values are blank in the reimported file.

    I’m wanting to edit the m3u files using notepad++ because the player’s playlist editing interface is a nightmare.

    Is there a way to add values like these into “references”? I’m using windows 10 if that matters.

      @Jonathan-Grant

      Could you provide some demo *.m3u file? What is that audio player - name, version?

        I could, but as soon as I move the m3u file from the player, the values listed under references disappear. I’m using the activo ct10.

        How do I attach the m3u file on here?

          I made a random test playlist, opened it up in notepad++ from the device and below is the text listed. The songs are also listed under “references” when I go to “properties” by right clicking on the file. If I try to move the file or copy and paste it, these references disappear completely. If I try to “open” the file directly from the device folder without moving it onto my pc, it simply opens up the properties:reference window.

            Also, if I move the m3u file back onto my device, it will then be empty (0kb), even if I don’t edit it.

              @Jonathan-Grant

              the first thing you have to manage, is how to get an unedited m3u back to your player.

              it will be difficult to help you on that, except if a member owns the same mp3 player by coincidence.

              best regards.

                And you can run Win10 on that player? Cool…
                Try to play with the encodings. May be your player doesn’t like ANSI, UTF-8 or something else. For example in AutoCAD I can not run lisp files with UTF-8 encoding, only ANSI works for me.

                  i think the activo ct10 has a proprietary operating system.
                  windows 10 is only installed at the desktop used for the editing tryouts.

                  file format encoding is a good tip, but i’m completely clueless what causes the reported, unedited m3u file to have 0kb, once it’s uploaded again to the player, just by copying it to the pc and back, as i have understood.

                    This is correct.

                      Good thought. I just tried a version encoded in ANSI, but same result. :-/

                        I think your problem is with the audio device, not with N++. I found some comments that says it might be a firmware problem but I forgot the forum name. Try to search for the problem.

                        This is my last answer for that topic, because this is a Notepad++ Community. I hope you can find a sollution!
