Hex Editor 0.9.5 - insert and delete characters

I’m using the Hex Editor Plugin v0.9.5 with Notepad++ 7.5.7 on Windows 10.
I can edit values in place in a file using the hex editor, but I can’t seem to insert or delete characters.
Does this plugin allow this or is it just to edit files without adding or removing characters? -
I don’t know much about hex editor plugin as it crashes too often for me to be useful, but your problem sounds like it may be one of being in “overwrite” rather than “insert” mode. Press and release the Insert key and see if that changes anything for you.
