All recent files disappeared

Normally, when NP is opened, all the recent files display their tabs at the top of the np panel. Yesterday when I ran up np, all the tags had disappeared and the recent file list displayed very old files.

I re-opened the files I needed.

Today, they are all gone again. Why is NP forgetting the files that are open?

please check your settings at settings > preferences > backup > session snapshot and periodic backup, as seen at the screenshot below.

settings - session and backup

make sure that remember current session for next launch and enable session snapshot and periodic backup are enabled, and the backup is set to 7 seconds.

if it is set that way, but it does not work, please provide us with your debug information, by going to the notepad++ menu ? > debug info... > copy debug info into clipboard.

important note: notepad++ downloaded from the microsoft store or from portableapps . com are known to have similar issues.
please make sure you only download official versions from notepad-plus-plus.org/downloads .
