Tab key enters spaces instead of tab
-
When I press the tab key, 4 spaces are inserted instead of a tab. I checked the preferences > language, and it says that it isn’t changing the tab into spaces. The tab key works normally in other programs, so it’s not a problem with Windows. Help!
-
did you actually select the your current used language in the preferences dialog?
-
@Seth-Bettwizilch Try changing these settings.
-
language preference, including tab settings, is documented here (for now)

I don’t know…sometimes screenshots are necessary, but they can quickly become out of date in documentation, not for what the doc is trying to show, necessarily, but maybe for some other reason. Anyway, it can make it appear that the entire doc is out of date or that the maintainers don’t care. I would use screenshots sparingly in the docs, and only when really necessary to make a point. Or maybe I’m wrong…

I understand your point. I have not yet found out Don’s opinion on screenshots in the documentation, and how we’re going to handle it (will the images be hosted there, or somewhere else), or how often or sparingly screenshots should be used. I figured it was better to have some documentation, even if it’s not pretty, rather than waiting until all the stars align for an ultra-pretty documentation set.

And why stopped the release of Npp Help.chm? -

I don’t know. That stopped being supported before I was involved with the documentation team. Probably it boils down to “maintaining one set of documentation is hard enough; maintaining multiple sets is a nightmare” – though that’s just my guess.
Personally, I’m just glad that we’ve been given permission to help maintain the one set, so that way there will be something. It will take a while to get the full documentation set, and it might not be perfect – but it’s much better than the one that was hopelessly out-of-date and not able to be edited.
