Double-Click problems with version 7.8.X

I use a Kensington Expert Trackball Mouse (not the wireless or Slimblade), on Windows 10. I have one of the buttons set to send a “Double Click” , but versions 7.8.X of NP++ fail to respond to that button. Version 7.7 does respond – and every other app I’ve tried under Win 10 works properly. If I just double-click the regular “one click” button, NP++ 7.8 responds as expected.
This is one of the weirdest things I’ve ever run across. Can anyone reproduce this with any pointing device button set to send a “double click” ?

One other bit of data: I switched back to the 32-bit version of NP++ . I haven’t had a chance to see if the 64-bit version of 7.7 works or not, so this may be a conflict with 32 vs 64 bit operation.
