I’ve managed to figure out the basics of creating an external C++ lexer for Notepad. Here is a working example…

      https://github.com/moon6969/NPP-lexer-example

It’s a fork of the standard C++ Notepad++ plugin template with a very basic lexer on top.

Lexing itself is more complicated than I thought - Respect to all the lexer writers!

Thanks to @Ekopalypse for many contributions to this forum.

If I’m not wrong the documentation doesn’t really handle this kind of plugins.
Are exporting the calls and providing the xml enough to get one started
or were there other pitfalls we should document?

The only major hurdle was the exports - all it needed was an exports.def file once you nudged me in the right direction.

I’ve noted this on the Github readme, and there are comments in the code for the bits I found tricky.
