Where does "Split Lines" actually split?
-
Assuming you have one or more lines highlighted, you can do Edit->Line Operations->Split Lines. How does Notepad++ determine where to split the line? I thought it was determined by Vertical Edge Settings in Preferences, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Can that be configured?

What version do you have (go to ? > Debug Info, and copy the data in that dialog into your reply).
With the upgrade to v7.8.6, there is a known bug that the Vertical Edge Settings no longer work with Split Lines, including mention of a workaround.
There is more discussion here.

Notepad++ v7.8.6 (32-bit)
Build time : Apr 21 2020 - 15:17:06
Path : C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\notepad++.exe
Admin mode : OFF
Local Conf mode : OFF
OS Name : Windows 8.1 Pro (64-bit)
OS Build : 9600.0
Plugins : mimeTools.dll NppConverter.dll NppExport.dllThank you for that info! I think what I am seeing is related to that bug. However, no matter what I do, it doesn’t break the lines at the column I specify.
Should I document that in the discussion thread?

Yes, adding your experience to the bug report would help.
