Is it possible to permanently save a find expression used for counting? If not, could this be added?

      Thanks.

Yes, record your counting action as a macro, give it a name, and it will appear on the Macro menu for future use.

How do I get the count results out of the macro? There appears to be no feedback / output.

          Thanks.

The output appears on the status bar of the Find window.
It’s a downside, you have to have that window open when doing this.

Oh, I see. Well, that’s better than nothing. Thank you.

I don’t know if this is the correct place to suggest it but, in any case, perhaps Notepad++ could be updated to automatically open the find window and inject the search string to make the whole thing more intuitive.
