How do you change tab to insert a "Tab Character" instead of "4 Spaces"?

    Whenever I hit the tab key, It outputs “4 Spaces” instead of an actual “Tab Character” and I think there was a setting to change that but I can’t find it anywhere.

      It is there under preferences. Look for reference to tab settings.

      This is an excerpt from the manual which you can view on the home website.
      Replace by space: when set, hitting TAB will insert that number of spaces; when not set, TAB will insert the literal ASCII TAB character

          Nevermind, I found tab settings under Language preferences.
