      Hello!

      After an update a couple of months or so ago, no backups are being saved, nor are sessions being backed up. Every time Windows decides to forcibly restart when I’m not paying attention, I’m losing any notes that haven’t explicitly been saved and this is causing me a huge amount of trouble.

      Remember current session for next launch is set, and it’s supposed to backup every 7 seconds, but it’s just not done it for months.

      Any assistance would be appreciated,

      Thanks!

        @Luke-Parkes-Haskell

        These features are working for me in 7.9.
        Can you give us any more information that might be peculiar to your setup?
        How about Debug Info… on the ? menu?

        If I were you, I’d probably grab a portable version of N++, extract that, and see if it saves the backups/session.

          Another good question for you: Do you ever run multiple instances of Notepad++?

            What is the backup directory? Is it “protected” - in other words, do you as the user running Notepad++ have permissions to write to that directory?

            Cheers.

              Nothing particularly special about this setup, it’s a Windows 10 professional machine with a single user account, and Notepad++ is running pretty much on the default settings.

              Debug info below;
              Notepad++ v7.8.9 (64-bit)
              Build time : Jul 15 2020 - 20:31:49
              Path : C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe
              Admin mode : OFF
              Local Conf mode : OFF
              OS Name : Windows 10 Enterprise (64-bit)
              OS Version : 1903
              OS Build : 18362.1139
              Current ANSI codepage : 1252
              Plugins : mimeTools.dll NppConverter.dll NppExport.dll

              I do not. Multiple tabs serve my purposes just fine.

              The default, it’s in my user directory and I do not seem to be able to edit that path. The account I’m using is the admin account on this machine.

              Thanks,

              Luke

                Can you try renaming your %APPDATA%\notepad++ directory temporarily and then run npp to see if that solves the problem?
