Where to store custom XML plugins on Windows 10?
What is the standard, or best-practice directory for storing custom XML plugins on Windows 10?
Which XML plugins are you referring to?
It’s a custom syntax highlighter. It’s just an XML file. It works but I’m just curious as to where most people store these types of files on their local computer. Of course technically we can store it anywhere.
Currently I have it stored in:
There is no general yes or no answer because this depend on the npp version and if portable or installed npp is used.
Ah yes - thank you. I installed this with Chocolatey.
What is your opinion on where I currently have the file?
I just created a myplugins directory in the plugins directory.
Can you post your debug-info, which is available from the last menu item, the ? menu?
Sure here it is:
Notepad++ v7.8.9 (64-bit)
Build time : Jul 15 2020 - 20:31:49
Path : C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe
Admin mode : OFF
Local Conf mode : OFF
OS Name : Windows 10 Home (64-bit)
OS Version : 2004
OS Build : 19041.572
Current ANSI codepage : 1252
Plugins : ComparePlugin.dll mimeTools.dll NppConverter.dll NppExport.dll
In this case you can either use directory C:\Program Files\Notepad++\userDefineLangs
