After I first used Kinza browser and turned on the option to close tabs by RMB (and open tab options by Ctrl+RMB), I’m so used to it and find any other method to close tabs in programs (especially, default - by clicking tiny “x” icon) so inconvenient!
Of course, there an option to close it by LMBx2, but it’s not so convenient as close it by just RMB. Is there a plugin allowing to do so? Or can anybody make it?
Closing tabs – it’s a much more common action than calling tabs option. It’s much more convenient to make fewer movements (key presses) for more common action and more movements for less common action than vice versa.

        @TuTAH1 ,

Sorry that no one replied. When I first read your question two weeks ago, I didn’t immediately have an idea, and/or I was on my phone browser at the time (which I don’t reply on, usually, unless it’s a really quick reply, with no screenshots or similar required)

That said, I don’t know of any plugin which changes the behavior of right clicking on tabs, sorry.

However, if you are just wanting a single-click , I have that all the time:

The little ❎ can be clicked (LMB) to close the tab. That feature can be enabled with Settings > Preferences > General > Tab Bar > ☑ Show close button on each tab (see npp-user-manual.org’s “Preferences” page for details on that dialog)

OP knows about the other (IMO excellent) methods to close tabs… :

find any other method to close tabs in programs (especially, default - by clicking tiny “x” icon) so inconvenient!

to close it by LMBx2, but it’s not so convenient

…just declines to accept them. Perhaps other readers saw this thread and thought “sheesh!” and moved on instead of responding.

Everybody “wants it their own way”, but devs aren’t going to support a huge amount of nuancy ways to do everything, it just isn’t worth it to spend time on that kind of thing.

Whoops, sorry. I didn’t notice (this time) that the OP had rejected out-of-hand the single-click solution.

Now that you’ve pointed it out, maybe I had noticed it two weeks ago, which is why I hadn’t replied then. :-)

            Yes, with

            1. File > Close
            2. Ctrl+F4
            3. Alt then F then C
            4. Right Click on the tab, then close
            5. Left click on the tab close ❎
            6. and the ability to customize the right click context menu so you could right click anywhere in the active editor panel and close that file, if you were willing to customize

… there are a wide variety of choices for closing the active tab that I can think of off the top of my head.

Moreover, the “Right Click on the tab, then close” and “Left click on the tab close ❎” are both standard behavior for tabbed environments, including the web browsers I have recent experience with – including Chrome and Edge, two of the most commonly-used browsers right now); I’ve never even heard of Kinza, so I doubt – and, honestly, given how much of people’s time is in their browser, that’s the behavior that the vast majority of users will find most natural. (I’ve never even heard of the Kinza browser; it’s not showing up as a measurable percentage in any online browser-usage-stats page I could find.)

Plus…some of this stuff is downright dangerous.

What I mean is, how many times do you do a “stutter-step” with the mouse buttons? Maybe it is me, I do it occasionally – and I’m left with a how-did-my-hand-even-do-that feeling. Even if my stutter hasn’t done anything bad. (No, I don’t have any disorder that causes my hand to be “unstable”.

If you accidentally do this in the wrong place, with quick actions enabled (e.g. little X on the tab), you could do some damage (well, close a file you don’t want to, and then have to remember which one it was to retrieve it). OP’s desire of RMB falls into this category. Although, admittedly, for me a right-button stutter is fairly rare.

how about middle mouse button? assuming everyone has a scrolly wheel mouse, its the default action for the wheel button to close tabs in browsers (and probably other programs) and it does the same for notepad++ too.

Ctrl+Shift+T could be of help here in order to repear a wrong move. Just my two cents.
