    Hello, I have recently closed an unsaved document by accident with a ton of important data from the past months.

    Whenever I click “Load last session” or “restore recent closed files” or “open all recent files”, the file I’m looking for is not showing up.
    Is there anything else I can do?

    Thank you.

      I have also looked into %appdata% for the title of the document, but it is now showing up either.

        Maybe I could use an app which scan a specific folder for deleted files ?
        Could someone tell me where the app keeps the files saved by default so they reopen when you open the app again after restarting the computer ?

          @Frozy-ESO ,

          Sorry, no. Unfortunately for you, the “Enable Session Snapshot and Periodic Backup” option (which is the option which enables “unsaved files”) only keeps a copy of the unsaved file for as long as that file remains open in Notepad++ and unsaved. It assumes when you close the document that you had either saved it yourself, or copy/pasted the data elsewhere, or else did not want it saved.

          Before the unsaved file was closed, it was saved in %AppData%\Notepad++\backup\ (or your alternate directory, if you had changed that setting), so you might be able to use file recovery software (maybe Recuva or similar) to try to recover recent files from that directory.

            Thank you Peter. I will do that.
            Last question for you.
            Do you know where I can look for the default folder for unsaved files, in case I would have changed it?
