Multi monitor border click issue

There is an issue that appears to only be present with multiple monitors.
I keep notepad++ open on my secondary monitor while I’m testing various stuff which involves frequently switching between my main app on my primary monitor and npp.
Most of the time I switch to npp by moving my mouse to the top of my screen and clicking. Since npp is maximized it is the only thing showing on the screen but when I click it suddenly changes to whatever app I have open behind npp. This is very frustrating as it is constantly switching to other apps when I simply want to click on npp so I can scroll thru text.This behavior only happens on npp and only when I’m switching to it from an app on my primary monitor.
