    Hello,
I recently had a mainboard die on my old PC, and am setting up my new box. Part of this was installing the newest version of N++.
In the older version, the application had “Six” options for text highlighting(Style occurrence of…).

I am disappointed to see the new version only has five options

Is there a way to add options so I can highlight with 6 options? Or possibly even more?
Is there some thought by the N++ team to make the setting dynamic within a limited range?
I do see those who want “no” highlighting and accept there are different asks here.

Thanks for any help you can provide

For as long as I’ve been using Notepad++, there have been FIVE options for “styling” text. So, in short, don’t know what you’re talking about…

Perhaps I am misremembering the number of style options, however I do recall a slightly different color pallet. And while I can change the specific colors available, I still wonder the same secondary questions:

        Or possibly even more?

          FYI,
I reviewed my steps and the “Sixth color” was achieved by:
Using the Style Configurator to set one Highlight Background color as “Yellow”
Then setting another Highlight Background color as “Purple”
Finally, “Double marking” text patterns with “Purple” then “Yellow” creates “Red”
As a result, I had Six colors even if there were only five selections provided by the application.

That’s not something we can do here. see “FAQ: Feature Request” for how to make an official feature request. Given there’s already 5 colors, my guess is that they wouldn’t bother implementing that; but I do not speak for the developers; it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

“Double marking” text patterns with “Purple” then “Yellow” creates “Red”

Ah. Well, you might be able to add together other marks to make other colors

Ah, yes, that can be done.
And you could create a macro so that it could be done in a single step.
Here’s a thread that, in its more-recent posts, tells you a lot about colors, maybe it has some relevant information for you:
