Icon is Ugly

Hellllp! I’m a visual designer and I LOVE Notepad++ but if I associate it with .txt files in Windows 10 it changes all the simple text icons into something very difficult to ignore with chameleons. It’s fine on the app icon, very cute, but less cute when it’s on twenty files on your desktop. Very visually unappealing. Can anyone give me guidance on where to adjust that? How can I submit a request to the developer to make this optional or have a more discreet icon?
