    Hello,
    If I have a file open in N++ that has been changed by another software, when I try to close Notepad, it asks me if I want to reload the file.
    This is a no-sense and annoying popup because I am closing the software.
    Thank you for your support.

      Hi.

      1. There are scenarios where, if a user closes an editor with a loaded file that disagrees with the disk image, and so the editor version is lost, this is a loss of data and effort and value. The Np++ default behavior is surely the best default behavior; ie it would be chosen by most experienced developers.
      2. If you haven’t yet, take a look at the overrides available in Settings, MISC., File Status Auto-Detection. They may give you exactly, or near to, what you want.

        @neil-schipper I’m not sure about that.
        If I have made changes to the file on Np++ and other external changes have been made, then you are right.
        Otherwise, if I’m closing Np++ without having made any changes to the file (but it’s the same thing if I’m using the “close tab” button or “close all tabs” action), whether I choose “reload” or “don’t reload” the file is reloaded (or dropped) and then immediately closed.

        Try it yourself: open a file in Np++ without editing it, open it with another editor and change something saving the changes. Go back to Np++ and close the file: whatever operation you choose it will close the file immediately after.

          @francesco-rombecchi

          There are issue(s) open about that, I’m sure; check the official bug tracker found HERE.

            @francesco-rombecchi We’re seeing different things, probably due to different versions and/or settings. I don’t have the ability (v7.9.5 with FSAutDet=Enab; silent and scoll both unchecked, which I believe are the defaults) to close either the file or Np++ until I decide whether or not to reload; thus I’m forced to think about how I wish to deal with the detected discrepancy.

            I agree that what you describe is undesirable. Are you satisfied there are no settings that prevent that behavior?

              @neil-schipper Dear Neil,
              Hi Neil,
              I’ve tried turning off the automatic notification feature for changed files, I’ve also tried having it update without notification but it doesn’t do exactly what I want. Obviously my problem is just a nuisance, not a real error. If there is no solution, I will be fine with this walkaround.

              I’ll rewrite the situation that I’d like to see resolved:

              1. File Status Detection = enabled
              2. Update without notification = unchecked
                When I try to close a tab (or close Np++, or close all tabs) that has been updated by an external program Np++ asks me whether to reload the tab (and then closes it)
