Can I install Notepad++ For my User Account Only?
-
When I open the Notepad++ installer an Administrator prompt requiring a PIN asks me if I want the program to make changes to this device.
I have installed other programs for my user account, I think is called local user. Is there a way for me to do this with Notepad++?
Thank you

Download the portable version of Notepad++. It doesn’t require administrator privileges to “install”, however there are caveats.
- It is self contained, as in installing everything within the folder it creates. This folder cannot be in the program files folder as that is generally restriced to admin privileged accounts.
- You cannot upgrade it in the normal sense. So if you customise it, then applying a later version will overwrite those altered settings with new defaults.
- If installing (essentialling unzipping the files) into a folder within your account (Documents folder etc) then ONLY your account will,be able to run it.
Do a search on this forum for “portable” and you can read further info about it. Suggest keep the search to recent posts as being more relevant.
