      Notepad++ v8.1.9.3 (32-bit)
      Build time : Dec 6 2021 - 19:16:45
      Path : C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\notepad++.exe
      Command Line :
      Admin mode : ON
      Local Conf mode : OFF
      Cloud Config : OFF
      OS Name : Windows 10 Enterprise (64-bit)
      OS Version : 2009
      OS Build : 19044.1415

      I appreciate this is an older problem but I’ve just [after a long time trying] solved this for myself and thought I’d post it in case it’s useful to anyone else.

      I tried running Notepad++ in ‘compatibility’ mode for Win 7. At some point in the process I was prompted to ‘test the application’ and report back once I’d done so.

      Above this message was a two line list of ‘things’ that windows was going to change in order to run the test…and one of them was ‘User Account Control - Run as Administrator’.

      I cancelled everything and opened up the UAC…and there’s the problem…

      I did as it said, clicked OK and restarted the PC.

      Notepad++ is no longer in Admin mode!

      I have no idea why the UAC was in this condition, it’s obviously been like it for some time.

      Happy New Year!
