On my side I don’t see any improvement regarding the round bracket ) editing problem.
I’ve uploaded a gif demonstration here.
It starts at 09:39:00
09:39:15 entering )
09:39:45 shown
09:39:56 entering ) in column mode
09:40:26 shown

This ~30 second delay seems consistent and doesn’t seem to get worse when I use column mode.
Below, I have added the process explorer view of Npp at this time. As you can see, one core is maxed out.
Another thing I discovered while recording the gif is that when npp loses focus and the last character typed was ), then it hangs for a few seconds when npp gets focus again until it becomes responsive. The delay is not as consistent as typing, I have had delays of 6 ~ 15 seconds and again, this does not happen with other characters, only ).
