The only thing you can do is to enable large icons via Settings->Preferences->General, but I’m not sure how well that scales with plugin icons.

I have the same issue. Please bring back large standard icons.

We in the Notepad++ Community are fellow users of Notepad++. We cannot change the codebase or “bring back” anything. The developers do not look for feature requests here.
However, you aren’t the only one to want this: there is an official feature request issue#9913 – that’s the right place for adding your encouragement to ask the developers to bring them back.

No one has ever said that, but we see a lot of specific complaints/requests here, that are directed towards creating a real issue, and yet most often people don’t follow up by doing that.

That’s why recently, I’ve been more likely to create a new issue if the original forum poster doesn’t (and if I cannot find an existing issue). I am not 100% on this (due to time and memory constraints), but I’m doing it more than I used to. I think, since the Forum is something of a “first line of defense” location for discussing whether an issue is really a problem or lack in Notepad++ or just a lack of understanding on the part of the user, that if we regulars think that it has merit, we should probably be more active in helping the OP “escalate” it to the request-tracking (for those with no inclination to create a github ID, and similar).
