    On my new Win 11 PC, I downloaded Everything Version 1.4.1.1020 (x64). In \This PC\Windows\ Program Files\Notepad++ there is a Context Menu.xml but I don’t know what that. I was using Notepad++'s .INI under Win 10 but not sure where it was stored or what it’s name was. On my new PC I found C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Everything\Everything.ini, and turned on TYPE VISIBLE while NPP was closed. On opening NPP the changes were not implemented. Where should I look for the INI file? I use NPP for finding files and don’t do anything fancy. Thanks, Larry

      @Larry-Schwartz

      First step is asking a question that makes some kind of sense.

      No idea what you are talking about except the vaguest sense that you might be talking about hand-editing one or more of Notepad++'s config files.

      If that’s the case (big “if”) then maybe reading the section of the user manual on that topic will be of help: HERE

        @Larry-Schwartz ,

        As with Alan, I originally assumed you were trying to find the Notepad++ configuration files, and my original answer started very similar to his.

        But given your mention of “Everything Version 1.4.1.1020 (x64)” and “Everything.ini”, I am now assuming that you are changing a configuration file for the “Everything” application, whatever that is.

        But then you go on to expect that changing some “TYPE VISIBLE” setting in the “Everything.ini” will somehow affect Notepad++. I don’t know why you would think that. The “Everything” application and “Everything.ini” have nothing to do with Notepad++, other than you used Notepad++ to edit the file.

        If you really have a question about how to configure the “Everything” application, you will have to find an “Everything” forum, because “Everything” is not “Notepad++”.

        I did a quick internet search, and it looks like “Everything Version 1.4.1.1020 (x64)” is an application that tries to search your computer better than Windows Explorer’s search. And you also said “I use NPP for finding files …” … so now I’m wondering if you think that this “Everything” application will somehow change how Notepad++ searches for files. Let me disabuse you of this notion: the “Everything” application does not change the way that Notepad++ searches for files; Notepad++'s “Find in Files” feature uses its own code for searching through various files, and is completely and totally independent of this “Everything Version 1.4.1.1020 (x64)”.

          @Larry-Schwartz
          My apologies for the confusion. I want to modify the configuration file that controls what file attributes are shown when EVERYTHING displays its file list. I use NPP as my text editor. I should be asking this question in the EVERYTHING forum. Again, my apologies for taking your time.
