MenuIcons disappear

If the recent file list is empty (either because one uses Open All Recent Files or Empty Recent File List) and one closes a file (any type of close) so that there is now one entry in the recent file list… the icons (most of them but not all) created by MenuIcons disappear.
Few people have complained about it and I have been scratching my head to find a possible reason for it but I came up empty.
Icons are loaded and maintained into memory and associated to the menu entries… so the only reason that I can think of is that the entries are deleted or modified by the close process.
Is anybody familiar with NPP source code able to help me understand how that can happen?

Could you please download the MenuIcons plugin and think of a possible cause/solution?
The icons also disappear after deleting an entry in the Run menu.
