    Help please. I have just updated to V8.4.7, and Notepad ++ has “lost” all my previous tabs. I did have the files saved, but in many places and I’m not sure where they all are to find them again. I refer to these tabs often … Is there any way to restore all my previous tabs?

      @Bob-Kinzett ,

      Somehow, the old session.xml file got overwritten – people occasionally complain about this, but I’ve never seen it happen, and the Notepad++ installer will not overwrite session.xml or other config files in the vast majority of circumstances. Unfortunately, no one has been able to explain enough about their “pre-problem” environment or otherwise be able to come up with a repeatable circumstance for this loss of config files for the developers to be able to replicate the problem, and all the installer logic says it shouldn’t happen.

      And if the session.xml is overwritten, then there is no longer a record of what files you had open before the update.

      Unfortunately, that means you may just have to search your drive for those files.
      If you have an idea of which folder hierarchies may have contained those files, you could use Notepad++'s Find in Files feature to try to look for keywords that may have in those files.

      I know, you don’t want to hear that. But as “just” a fellow user of Notepad++, that’s the best I can do for you.
