After 5 or 6 clicks around in any document, NP++ starts selecting text instead of moving marker

What the title says; after five or six clicks around in any doc, NP++ starts selecting text. It selects the text based on where the last click before the selection started. If I click outside NP++ and click back in again, it works fine, for another 5-6 clicks.

@papahOOch
Also, I’ve tried reinstalling both with and without personal settings but to no avail. Even tried several versions of NP++, but the problem persists. This behavior is unique to NP++, and it doesn’t happen in other text editors. -
I cannot replicate. I can do dozens of clicks throughout any document without it ever accidentally switching to selection-mode.
Maybe you have a plugin that is messing things up. Try running without plugins.
Also, sharing ?-menu’s Debug Info will let us know what version and environment of N++ you are using, as well as what plugins are installed.

I had a problem like that years ago and found that hitting the Shift key a few times solved it (for a while). Maybe some program is doing a Shift down and not up (do you have AutoHotkey running?) or the keyboard is sticking - but that wouldn’t explain its being only in Notepad++.

@ludamo-0 I went in and deactivated sticky keys as I thought that might be a reason, but to no avail. Also, I did have autohotkey installed, but have since that reinstalled windows on a fresh new hard drive, and it would be weird if it hung back, and only in NP++…

@PeterJones I was gonna give you the debuginfo but now the problem seems to have disappeared! I did have a windows update waiting that I installed last night before I went to bed, so maybe that was what was causing the issue. Strange, but then again, computers are just rocks tricked into doing math
