View Current File in portable versions of browsers
-
In the menu View > View Current File in, is there any way to point the entries for Firefox and Chrome to portable versions? When I select either one of them, I get an “Application cannot be found in your system” message. I’m assuming it’s because I use portable versions of those.

I totally agree. Those buil-in menu options assume “installed” and registered browsers, something portable apps don’t do.
However if you were to read this portion of the manual you should be able to achieve what you want.

Thanks Terry. The funny thing is, Firefox Portable is set as the default browser on my computer so I naturally assumed that Npp menu would pick that up but it didn’t. There should be a way to point Npp to the installation paths. Maybe one day.

All Notepad++ does in this case is to ask Windows to run what it thinks is the default browser. If Windows can’t or won’t do that, there’s nothing Notepad++ can do about it.
YOU, however, can do what Terry suggested and set up a Run menu item to achieve your desired functionality.

Thanks Alan. Obviously Windows is being difficult. However, it’s good to know it’s nothing to do with Npp.
