Hello there, i’ve got a Problem with Notepad++ that i don’t know how to fix.

I was editing some Text, and i accidently closed Notepad++, and once i reopened, it was open, but Invisible

Its hard to explain, Notepad++ is open, but its like Invisible, i can still do Stuff but i don’t see any of it, i don’t see the Notepad++ Programm at all

I tried closing it, updating it, unin- and reinstalling it, nothing, the same problem keeps on accuring, it keeps on going invisible

I don’t know what to do! I’ve had this Problem before, but i didn’t know how i fixed it, i really need Help!

I did try restarting my PC aswell, and still nothing!

I am using the newest Version of Notepad++, i am using Windows 10 and i have all Plugins installed exept for the Localization Plugin

I had a problem with Notepad++ opening but not showing within my desktop.

Notepad++ opened in the top-right corner of my screen. I was able to move my cursor to the top-right portion of my screen, click and hold, and then drag it into my desktop view.

I’m not sure if this is the same problem you’re experiencing, but you might want to try seeing if the program opened at the very edge of your desktop and try to drag it back into place.

            UPDATE, it works now

I had to download the Portable 7 Zip version of Notepad++, and once i opened that, Notepad++ was visable and i was able to use it again

I still don’t know what causes Notepad++ to become invisible tho

@Marcus-Wieland To add to what @Peter-0 posted, when you are in the invisible Notepad++ try Alt-Spacebar X to switch Notepad++ into Maximized mode. That may cause it to pop into view. If that does not work then try Alt-Spacebar R to restore it to windowed mode. It’s two keystrokes. Alt-Spacebar as the first and then hit X or R

The position and dimensions of Notepad++ on the screen are stored in your Config.xml file which is usually in your %AppData%\Notepad++ folder. Exit/close Notepad++. Then edit the Config.xml file using plain old Notepad (not the ++ version) and look for a line that looks like <GUIConfig name="AppPosition" x="0" y="0" width="1100" height="700" isMaximized="no" />. If you delete that line then Notepad++ will start in the upper-left corner of your main monitor as an 1100x700 window. When you exit Notepad++ then it will save the AppPosition line
