Search for a setting by its name
-
Hello,
since NP++ has quite many settings now, it would be cool if it was possible to search for settings by their name when the settings dialog is open – like it’s possible in some other programs.
Would it be doable in NP++?
As of now, the easiest way to find a setting is to search for it on the internet and find out where it is.
Cheers!

Interesting idea. That could come in handy. Since it doesn’t exist yet, you could do the next best thing and go to the Online User Manual’s Preferences page and search through that page using your browser’s
Ctrl+F
FIND IN PAGE feature.Would it be doable in NP++?
Yes. But it won’t happen unless someone makes an official Feature Request and it gets accepted and implemented.

Well, why search the entire internet when there’s an Online User Manual that’s linked from Notepad++'s ? menu?

Haven’t used NppMenuSearch myself, but I’ve heard of it and AFAIK it could be useful. That said, I suspect it’s more useful for search for actions (e.g., remove bookmarked lines, space to tab leading) than settings.

I used to use NppMenuSearch, and although it isn’t in my current list of plugins, I believe it does what OP desires.

@Mark-Olson Thank you! The plugin does indeed accomplish what I needed, although in a bit other way than I thought.
