Going Back Into Text To Fix Word(s) Spelling Note++ OVER WRITES text NEED TO STOP IT

Hi only using NOTE++ as a simple text editor which I love but after upgrading I have a weird problem that I don’t understand how to fix.
First time in forum so please forgive my poor way of explaining… this…
I type a sentence and go back to the sentnce like … this one.
I type a sentence and go back to the sentnce like … this one. When I go back to the sentnce and attempt to edit the sentnce by placing my curser which is now an _ symbol instead of normal curser and attempt to insert an e before the nce and it overwrites a letter instead of inserting.Is something turned on that needs to be turned off?
How do I fix this?
Do I have to uninstall and re-install note++?
I thought I have the latest downloaded and installed V8.6.2
I am using Windows 10Thank you for listening and eager to get a response.

Does the lower right of your Notepad++ window have this?:
If so, press and release the
Insertkey, to obtain:
