    I am a newbe in this forum. I don’t want to boycot notepad++, just report an error.
    (Where do I do that?)

    I used to use notepad++ to convert from UTF-8 to ANSI.
    But it does not work anymore. The text get deleted when I try by using the conversion menu convert to ANSI on the UTF-8 formated document. (with Scandinavian Chars in it)

    Reason: I generate a textfile with PHP, but I want to use the file in a VBA macro. VBA is legacy, and does not know about UTF-8, so I have used notepad++ to convert it to ANSI. It used to work. I can use Visual Studio Code for the job, but the user interface for this job is not very intuitive. I’d rather use notepad++, if it worked…

      That’s a known issue, and will be fixed in the next release, presumably 8.6.9.
      So, really, you have to do nothing…but wait.

          @Alan-Kilborn I am using Mini-portable (7z) version of Notepad++ for years (Win 10)
          When going Settings -> Style Configurator -> Default Style
          and changing Colour Style (adding several choices to Background Colour), these choices are being lost after Notepad++ is closed.
          Any suggestions?

            Nice to see someone else frustrated/confused by the organization here.

            And in case anybody else sees this later… Reverting to the previous working version is another workaround idea. Assuming you need it now, and don’t mind working around the automatic update automation (if enabled for you).

            If you can find a bug online they often will tell you when the issue started. Or you can just start installing from an older setup version and testing. Keep trying something older until it works again. Or use the last version you’d been on…
